Aiport Authority plans to set up a multi-million shilling back up centre in Mombasa

Posted on : Wednesday , 7th October 2015

The Kenya Airports Authority is putting in place plans for a million-shilling back centre in Mombasa . The facility which will be based at the Moi International airport will be completed within 24 weeks. The backup data centre will be used as a substitute for accommodating the ICT resources. The data centre will also be established as a precautionary measure in case of any outages. The data centre will still be connected to the firm’s central operation system.

“We would like to invite bids for the supply and installation of a secondary data centre.” Said Margaret Muraya  who   is the acting general manager in charge of procurement and logistics.

Almost two years ago, fire gutted down most of Jommo Kenyatta International Aiport  arrival and baggage lounges which caused ripples regarding the safety of key systems and records at the airport. This happened at a time when  JKIA which is one of the busiest airports in Africa was still used to handle sensitive records.

Kenya Airports Authority is mandated to administer, control and manage aerodromes and airports  in the country. The authority has also overseen the current expansion of the Jommo Kenya International Airport terminals.
